Over the last decade, makeup artist Kaela Dobson has contributed her skills to a variety of film and television projects, exhibiting her diverse storytelling abilities through makeup. Based in New York, Kaela was the makeup department head on Season 1 of Hulu’s “Wu-Tang: An American Saga.” Going above and beyond the typical role of makeup, Kaela oversaw the production and design of grills and gold teeth, extensive tattoo cover ups, and elaborate facial hair appliances in order to achieve the authentic look of the Wu-Tang Clan member’s in the ‘90s.

Passionate about character-driven makeup, Kaela was the makeup department head on Comedy Central’s “Alternatino with Arturo Castro” and has also worked on productions such as Marvel’s “Luke Cage” and “Iron Fist,” “Yelling to the Sky” starring Zoe Kravitz, and HBO’s three-time Golden Globe nominated series “The Night Of.”

As of recent she finished working on her second season of CBS’s crime drama series “FBI: Most Wanted” from Emmy- winning executive producers Dick Wolf and René Balcer.

 

She is currently department heading makeup on Amazon's "Harlem" Season 2 Starring Meagan Goode and produced by Tracy Oliver, Amy Poehler, and Pharrell Williams.

Kaela became interested in hair and makeup at a young age which led her to becoming a licensed cosmetologist before graduating high school. She is a graduate of Make-up Designory NYC and a member of the makeup and hairstylist union, Local 798. Her drive and eye for detail has accelerated her career to where she is today.
